Architecture in 3D: Photogrammetric Models
and the Medieval Experience of Space

On 15th January, Dr. Neta Bodner will present her ongoing research in the DHSS Hub seminar. In this interdisciplinary project, funded by grants from the ISF as well as the DHSS Hub, researchers from various fields join forces to study the enigmatic structure of the medieval underground Mikveh in Cologne. By bringing the structure back to life with advanced technologies, such as a photogrammetric model as well as virtual reality simulation, Dr. Bodner studies religious and cultural aspects of the medieval experience of space.

Generative Crafts
Artists: Shirley Wegner and Tal Nisim

Join us for the opening of the DHSS Hub new art exhibition on 23rd December, Monday, at 10 p.m. in campus Raanana. Artists and photographers, Shirley Wegner and Tal Nisim, as well as the curator Carmit Blumenson, will give a tour of the exhibition and discuss their artwork. The two artists are engaged in an ongoing dialogue with generative artificial intelligence, exploring the boundaries of perception and representation by creating a visual dialogue with key architectural elements of the gallery space.
The fourteen tall niches nestled within the arcade of the gallery space are transformed into light boxes, showcasing a sequence of photographs printed on translucent surfaces. On the massive concrete wall, a video is projected, in which emerge new spaces within the building, hinting at hidden realities and
weaving together fragments of reality and machine hallucinations.

Workshops Day on Artificial Intelligence
in the Humanities and Social Sciences

On 3rd December we held an intensive day of hands-on workshops on the use of AI for research in the humanities and social sciences. Researchers from various fields and from universities across Israel explored together the research potential of both predictive and generative AI, learning how to train machine learning models for textual analysis as well as how to employ AI for writing python code for a variety of research questions. Check out the program here.
